We are committed to advancing Reconciliation between Indigenous people of this land and newcomers and ethnocultural communities.

Our commitment and responsibility to Reconciliation are based on these two Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action.

Our Commitments

$

Call to Action #43

We call upon federal, provincial, territorial, and municipal governments to fully adopt and implement the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples as the framework for Reconciliation.

$

Call to Action #93

We call upon the federal government, in collaboration with the national Indigenous organizations, to revise the information kit for newcomers to Canada and its citizenship test to reflect a more inclusive history of the diverse Aboriginal peoples of Canada, including information about the Treaties and the history of residential schools.

We do this by creating a platform for the newcomers, ethno-cultural communities, settlers, and leaders of Indigenous organizations and Elders (Knowledge Holders) to engage, learn, and share their experiences, and together embark on the process of healing and reconciliation in response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action.
